This is highlighted as "probably a bug" in my IDE.

But `Arrays.equals(new byte[]{1}, new byte[]{1});` is true.

- The 4 replace methods were nearly identical.
- Deprecate String utility, which has a simple one-liner equivalent in the JDK

Now switchoff betweeen the authentication systems seems to work as
intended

These tests otherwise may throw FileNotFoundException and are harder to make them run.

Also delete TestUtils.java because it's not needed now anymore.
